The main bonus types

Casino bonuses come in a handful of recognisable shapes. Knowing which is which tells you what to expect before you read a single line of terms — and which offer actually fits how you play.

Welcome / matchMatches a percentage of your first deposit up to a cap — e.g. 100% up to $200.
No-depositA small credit or spins just for registering — lowest risk, lowest cap.
Free spinsA set number of spins on named slots, often alongside a deposit match.
CashbackReturns a percentage of net losses — best when paid as cash with no wagering.
ReloadA smaller match on later deposits to keep regular players coming back.

Wagering and max bet, briefly

Wagering (or rollover) is how many times you must bet a bonus before winnings can be withdrawn — written as 35x, 40x and so on. A lower multiple is easier to clear. The max bet rule caps how much you can stake per spin while a bonus is active (often $5); break it and the casino can void the bonus and any winnings. Always read both numbers together — a generous headline with 50x wagering and a tiny max bet can be worth less than a modest, cleaner offer.

How to compare real value

The headline percentage is the least useful number on a bonus. To judge real value, look at the total amount you must wager (bonus times rollover), the expiry window, which games count and at what weighting, and the maximum you can withdraw from bonus play. A 100% match up to $100 at 30x with a 7-day window and full slot weighting beats a 200% match at 45x that expires in 3 days. We list these terms beside every offer so you can compare like for like.

T&C red flags

Green flags
  • Wagering at or below 35x on the bonus only
  • At least 7 days to clear the offer
  • Clear list of eligible games and weighting
Red flags
  • Wagering above 45x or on deposit plus bonus
  • Tiny max-bet or low max-cashout caps
  • Short 1-3 day expiry that forces fast play
18+ only. Gambling is entertainment, not income. Set a budget, never chase losses, and use deposit limits or self-exclusion if play stops being fun. Need help? Reach a support line in your country.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which bonus type is best for beginners? +
A no-deposit bonus or a low-wagering welcome match lets you learn a casino with little or no risk. Skip big-percentage offers with 45x+ rollover until you understand the terms.
What does wagering 35x actually mean? +
A $20 bonus at 35x means you must place $700 in bets before the bonus winnings can be withdrawn. Lower multiples and bonus-only wagering are easier to clear.
Why was my bonus voided? +
The most common reasons are exceeding the max bet while a bonus is active, playing excluded games, or letting the offer expire. Read the rules before your first spin to avoid it.
Are these offers available in my country? +
We only show bonuses from operators that accept players from your location, so the list is already filtered to what you can actually claim where you live.
